据香港东网等多家港媒9月1日报道，有激进示威者网上煽动周日（1日）及周一（2日）进行所谓“三机场交通压力测试”，以此来堵塞各区来往机场的交通。
下午1时20分左右，有暴徒在港铁青衣站进行破坏，数十人围住入闸机以雨伞阻挡视线，有人以铁锤敲打闸机及附近的八达通值机，也有人向闭路电视喷漆，现场港铁职员却未有阻止。

Police said a large number of protesters threw iron sticks, bricks and stones at the railway track near the airport station from 4 pm, and some people broke into the track of the airport express line, seriously obstructing train services.

下午18:00左右，大批从机场撤来的暴徒来到东涌站，将站内消防栓打开，导致站内到处是水。同时，他们还在站内大肆破坏。站内随机发出安全广播，提示无关人士尽快离开。下午18:30左右，警方来到东涌站展开清场行动，大批“观察员”、“关爱孩子”组织成员开始围堵警察，试图阻碍警察清场。
